Yoga Sutra 1.7

1.7 Correct understanding can result from direct perception, it can be inferred, or it can be proven by consulting texts or experts.

I still get tripped up on this one. Sometimes my direct perception of something is completely different from someone else’s direct perception of the same thing. What correct understanding comes down to, is if i can connect to the present moment and perceive without bias. This is a lifelong practice, but within it, I get freedom. I can learn empathy and compassion in new ways and I can seek to understand, rather than be understood. I connect to the divinity of each moment rather than the fallacy of ego.

Today I will practice perception without bias. I will breathe into my ego clinging, and I will seek to be set free.
